Our instructors carefully analyze every primary school and its entrance examinations, in terms of test content from previous years as well as trends for the future. We don’t waste time trying to figure out “what questions appeared in what tests at what schools”, but rather “Why did this question appear at that school”. We go deeper in our efforts to build the right foundation for each child. We put together tailor made textbooks so we can provide the training best suited for the entrance examinations for each particular school.
The benefit of Enfant’s unique style of elementary school preparation is that we always adapt our curriculum to the characteristics of the children on a year-by-year basis, as well as the requirements on the part of the schools, in our age of rapid change. All this is integrated in original textbooks.
Easing the parents’ “trial”
Japan’s elementary school entrance examinations have been called “a trial for parents”. There are many things parents are expected to do to support their children on their journey to the entrance examination – a support that is a must for successful enrollment. We at Enfant help parents to do this in various ways. For instance, we provide training in the form of an “application course”, and an “interview course” to help parents build their supportive skills.
In other words, we are not just merely training parents in instruction techniques, how to support their children in their study at home etc., but we raise the bar by offering services such as study seminars for parents, where we discuss the supportive role of the father and mother at home. This is one example of the various ways we help parents improve their support for their children.
Furthermore, we provide advice regarding the educational objectives of the families, and the creation of a study friendly home environment. We offer advice on how to fill out application forms and training for interviews that parents will be subject to. We make sure that parents will be the best possible partners for their children on the road to entrance examination day.
Promoting the correct path to enrollment
To eliminate the risk for incorrect information or rumors influencing children or parents, we make sure to exchange information on the entrance examinations, the family situation, and so forth, every time parents come to pick up their children. Program for 4-years-olds:
A coherent course designed to bring students academic ability to meet the requirements of their school of choice. We thoroughly instruct students to this end, laying a solid foundation for passing the entrance examination.
To further improve chances for successful enrollment, we provide general training necessary for the child to pass the entrance examination test of the school of his or her choice.
Saturday Intensive Standard
– Class practice type –
Intensive course in which we every other week on Saturdays study the material normally taught in normal weekday classes (two weeks’ worth of study each time). Ideal for children who cannot attend prep school classes on weekdays.
Saturday Special Premium
– Test practice type –
For 5-year-olds:
Trial examinations and class instruction, utilizing a variety of methods to improve the student’s academic strength to a level sufficient for passing the entrance examination of the school of choice. This special course helps students acquire practical understanding of how the entrance examination works by letting them “experience” it beforehand. There is a morning and and afternoon option to choose from, for the convenience of participating families.
Spring/Summer/Winter and Special Courses
- Seasonal courses and special courses providing the instructional content of our standard courses.
- A carefully selected curriculum, executed with instruction to improve students’ overall academic level to one sufficient to pass the entrance examination test.
- A special physical course, “Enfant Gym”, consisting of circuit exercises designed to monitor student’s response to physical exercise instruction, and “Enfant Art”, where students learn painting, working with clay, and making crafts. These courses contribute to student’s general academic ability.
- For five-year-olds, we offer the “Summer Power Try”, a two-day summer camp.
Enfant Open
― Simulated Elementary School Entrance Examination ―
- Held at a private elementary school or at Ecole de l’Enfant. The trial is based on an analysis of entrance examination tests held at various schools previous years.
Parent Course and Seminar (Educational Course)
- Teachers from various elementary schools talk about their institution’s’ educational philosophies and characteristics of their instruction, as well as their entrance examinations.
- The information provided is not restricted to entrance examinations, but also covers how families best can prepare mentally, how to best spend their time, how to prepare application documents, the key points of the interviews that parents and children are subject to, and so forth.
