"Ecole de Meidaifu" Meidaifu Junior High School Preparatory Course

Ecole de Meidaifu is a specialist prep school course for the aptitude test for the Meidaifu Junior High School, a school attached to Nagoya University. We help prepare students for examinations, essay writing, and the group interview required for successful enrollment.

What is necessary for passing the the Meidaifu Junior High School entrance examination?
Our unique approach

The entrance examination for the Meidaifu Junior High School is executed in the form of a so called “inspection” – an unusual procedure for a Japanese school. The inspection consists of three parts; Ⅰ, Ⅱ and Ⅲ. Part Ⅰ is a test of the general academic skill acquired in elementary school, part Ⅱ is designed to test intellectual capacity as well as ability of self-expression, and part ⅡⅠ includes a group interview and other procedures to evaluate the qualities of the applicant’s character. The results for each individual are then compared, on which basis 40 applicants are enrolled to the school.

At “Ecole de Meidafu” we offer the “Enfant Meidaifu Junior High School Entrance Examination Preparatory Program”, in which we work to improve the applicant’s chances for successful enrollment. The curriculum is designed on the basis of the image of the Meidaifu Junior High School student. It is a study system in which students can advance at their own pace. We offer a unique program, tailored to the educational direction of Meidafu Junior High and the specific individual needs of each applicant. We also advice on home study with the specific objective of Meidaifu enrollment, as well as follow-up courses. In addition, the program includes regular trial examinations and review tests, providing opportunities for objective self-evaluation. Only Enfant is able to provide such solid support.

Opening the path to enrollment under the guidance of experienced instructors

Students at Enfant benefit from the guidance of experienced instructors, familiar with the Meidaifu entrance examinations. They make sure that Enfant trained examinees will stand the best possible chance for passing the test. Our instructors waste no time in passing the proper skills and knowledge to make this happen, pinning down the key points in the most efficient way possible. These instructors show impressive results. They have trained a large number of students who successfully passed the entrance examinations, not only for enrollment at Meidaifu, but also related junior high schools, such as Tokai, and the Nanzan Girl’s Junior High.

Instruction preparing students for Part Ⅰ of the Entrance Inspection

Part I of the Meidafu entrance examinations is a paper-based test, designed to confirm the general academic performance of graduates from elementary school. First of all, examinees are tested for their basic understanding of all subjects in the elementary school curriculum. Rather than a simple check for how well a student have memorized facts and figures, this test challenges the examinee to use logical reasoning to clarify a problem by trial and error experimentation, and to do this in writing in such a way that his or her reasoning is clear to the reader.
Our aim at Ecole de l’Enfant is to cultivate precisely this kind of thinking ability and power of expression in our students.

Classes that bring out the natural desire to learn

While Japan’s elementary school entrance examinations are said to be “an trial for the parents”, it can be argued that the entrance examinations for junior high school are testing the examinees themselves. However much parents are concerned about the future of their child, it doesn’t make much difference if the child itself is not actively striving to learn. We at Ecole de l’Enfant put great effort into cultivating an attitude in students that will help them in a sensitive time when they are approaching puberty. We see to that students will still be highly motivated in this difficult part of their lives.

Solid guidance for Step II – essay writing

Every week we assign an essay to students, asking them to write about standard topics, as well as themes frequently appearing in the Meidafu examinations, or that can be expected to appear in upcoming exams. We start by basic instruction in how to plan the presentation, how to clarify one’s argument by presenting practical examples, and lay out the structure of the piece. Based on this work we put together an outline for the presentation. Based on this outline, we ask the student to finish a handwritten manuscript as homework assignment, and bring it back to us the following week. Our instructors will then review the text, make detailed corrections, and return it to the student. In doing this, we place great emphasis on the qualities of the individual, working to help him or her produce the best text possible based on his or her personal characteristics. If your child is attending a prep school in your neighborhood, and have trouble achieving good results in essay writing, or perceive it to be an obstacle hard to overcome, we strongly encourage you to let him or her attend a trial essay writing class Ecole de Meidaifu.
